The Old Rustic Suckerpunch

from The Lost Stone Catcherye Tapes by Keep The Fear

about

"Diane. I think I'm rustic. I had a conversation a few weeks ago with a dear friend of mine about turning the other cheek, or not relaying bad deeds with bad deeds or even that old saying, being the better person. I'm a firm believer that some people need a good swift kick in the pants to bring them back down to earth with the rest of us.

I know two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights make a left and I have a pretty decent left hook. I just get tired of bad humans. I wonder why they never want to be good? I wonder if they were good and had all they needed, would they even go bad? Then I got into a whole other topic of why and when do people go bad, which, sounded way funnier when I was talking to myself about it.

The irony. Diane, I think I may have just called myself old. I have to go do yoga or something. Stone Out."

lyrics

THE OLD RUSTIC SUCKERPUNCH

how quickly we forget
we were taught lessons then
our heads get so big
when colored paper makes us rich
our heads grow so sick
when colored paper makes us rich

did you forget where you came from
can you remember the truth
old rustic shows what he's made of
uppercuts out of the blue
roundhouses right to the tooth

how quickly we forgive
justified with consequence
to do it again
without knocking off their grin
to do it again
much to my chagrin

did you forget where you came from
can you remember the truth
old rustic shows what he's made of
uppercuts out of the blue
roundhouses right to the tooth

did you forget where you came from
must I remind you again, son
magic does not really happen
you've been duped into thinking you know some
& I'm the old rustic sucker ot punch one
